#I love how Balthazar is the only one to acknowledge this little fact. #It says a lot about Sam’n’Dean.

#As much as it says about Sam and Dean I think it says more about Balthazar #That he’s the only one realizes the gravity of what exactly it is he’s doing #That’s he’s the one who points it out #I think it says a lot that he first says /I’m/ betraying a friend #I think that him going behind Cas’ back bothers him more than he’s willing to admit to the Winchesters #I think this decision tore him up inside #and I think that’s why he more of less threaten them when Dean got shirty #that bit about ripping out their sticky bits was him showing how much he doesn’t want to do this #but he loves Cas too much to /not/ do this #and he knows this is not a wise choice but it needs to be made for Cas’ sake

I read a ficfic once where Balthazar was brought back and Sam made a comment about Cas killing him. Balthazar said he deserved it and went further to say, “What? You wouldn’t stab your friend in the back if he betrayed you?” Sam vehemently said no. Balthazar came back with, “But, Sam, you did.” It was the ultimate z-snap and so Balthazar and so true. It really says something about Balthazar when he knows and understands why Cas is doing what he is when Sam and Dean can’t—and, though he wants to stop Cas and save him, he doesn’t judge him.

damn it Balthazar. I really tried not to like you. I reallly REALLY tried. But you won, you selfless asshole. I love you.
