Supernatural AU: Mr. & Mr. Smith
Dean and Cas are happily married but they don’t know that they each have some extra-curricular activities on the side.
OH MY GOD. YES PLEASE. SOMEONE WRITE THIS SHIT
BLESS THIS POST
Actually, the fic exists and it’s Things I should have known by wolfrider89 for the 2011 Destiel Big Bang.

Dean is highly intelligent. It’s a different type of intelligence from Sam, but I’d definitely go as far to say they are equally intelligent.
He made EMF meter out of a busted up walkman, created an electro magnet to wipe…
Dean + Star Trek
#DEAN IS A NERD SO THERE #dean loves star trek #he’s probably seen every single episode (out of order of course because he watched them on tnt marathons) #he likes spock the best esp. in star trek iv #and then he meets cas who is a lot like spock in star trek iv #:3 #and exactly who is considered the nerd in this family? mmmhmmmm (via astaraels)
#AND ARE WE FORGETTING THE WHOLE #IT’S CALLED ANIME AND IT’S AN ART FORM LINE #BECAUSE DEAN WINCHESTER IS ONE OF US #AND I LOVE HIM FOR IT (via wingeddildos)
#reblogging for added commentary #DEAN IS A NERD SO THERE #research is all good and stuff but i find it funny how people don’t even realize what tends to be considered geeky or nerdy in our society #and dean tends to hit those marks a lot more than sam does?? #sam actually seems more embarrassed about dean’s random geeky/nerdy references #(which is a totally valid characterization and fits with the ‘exasperated little brother’ thing and makes for an interesting dynamic and … #*all that)#but yeah i mean…dean has an amazing memory for minutiae that not a lot of other people would catch and he’s able to respond back in an … #instant if it’s to do with pop culture and/or nerdy/geeky stuff #references drop from his tongue in waves and all that #and let’s be real here the guy clearly has to have a really good memory to keep all of those things in his head and bring them out at a m… #*moment’s notice (esp. the literary references?)#and seriously i could go on and on but i won’t because this is probably long enough as it is :p
the commentary on this just keeps getting better. *__*
and because phone tagging is a pain in the ass, I’m just going to say this here: you want to know the reason why so many people think Sam is a nerd? Because the things we see him getting feeling excited about are more stereotypically ‘intelligent people’ things. That is, they fit into people’s comfortable, restrictive, ableist notions about what does and doesn’t make someone’s contributions to anything worthwhile.
Sam geeks out about stuff like dead languages and HP Lovecraft and Samuel Colt and legends; things that are immediately useful on hunts and that ~require research~ (as though research itself defines nerdiness and makes all the things nerdy)
(protip: it doesn’t.)
oh, but Dean displays genuine, thorough, often socially unacceptable, unironic love of things like classic rock, Star Trek, Vonnegut, anime, and Doctor Sexy, knowledge that has made itself helpful and useful at several turns despite seeming silly (as opposed to Sam’s immediately useful stuff*) and he’s… what? Just a brainless pop culture junkie or so some parts of fandom would have you believe.
And those parts of fandom can’t sit with me at lunch.
*: I have a whole separate tirade about this part but the sheer usefulness of everything Sam geeks out about (save Star Wars and Harry Potter, which are more mainstream and acceptable things to know, love, and reference than anime and Star Trek)… That’s another point against him being a nerd, to me. I feel like he only really cares about them as means to an end, rather than enjoying them on their own merits, the way that Dean loves his stuff. So, yeah.
This is such a beautiful post. I’d like to add something interesting, but in general I’d extend the argument to the different ways in which Dean and Sam’s intelligence are played in the show and how wrong it is that only Sam’s gets recognized as valid (probably because it’s closer to the models society gives us of intelligence and smartness ie: university or book knowledge) while Dean is often tagged as dumb when he’s anything but. But I’d get too much into a conversation about class and how it influences our perception of Dean and Sam’s intelligence and knowledge and smarts, so for now I’m just giving so many props to these posts. <3
Perfect post. I understand you Dean, come be my best friend since you ditched Cas in Purgatory.

“See, THESE people get it. I don’t need to say anything, my actions speak and all that.”
“Then they didn’t speak loud enough, Dean, or else Gabriel wouldn’t’ve flipped his shit like he did.”
“It’s not my fault he didn’t see it.”
“Dean-“
“What do you want me to say, Sam? Do you want me to say I love him?
Fine.
I love him, ok? I’m so head-over-heels in love with the obnoxious little bastard it actually hurts sometimes. I love that his eyes are a color that shouldn’t even BE an eye color, and how it’s the first thing I see when I wake up in the morning. I love the way he gets under my skin, because I don’t want him anywhere else. I love the fact that I can laugh and goof off and actually be happy around him, and it’s not a fucking coping mechanism or anything, it’s actually because I’m happy. I love the way he calls me Deano or kiddo or even candy cane and I love when he smiles and it causes his eyes to crinkle upward and I love that when I talk he actually listens enough to think up a clever quip at what I say. So yeah, I love him. I love him and it pisses me off that I’m sitting here telling you this because my damn pride might have just fucked up one of the few greatest things I’ve ever had.”
“…”
“…”
“…”
“He’s behind me, isn’t he?”
“Yup.”
“Wanna turn around and say that thing about my eyes again?”

Sam’s grave.
Commissioned artwork for The Road So Far by Shugs. This scene takes place at the beginning of chapter 14. Sorry for the lack of new artwork lately but I’ve been working mainly on this one ;)

#i can hear dean thinking ‘dont fucking cry’
“Much of my life has been devoted to trying not to cry in front of people who loved me. … You clench your teeth. You look up. You tell yourself that if they see you cry, it will hurt them, and you will be nothing but A Sadness in their lives, and you must not become a mere sadness, so you will not cry, and you say all of this to yourself while looking up at the ceiling, and then you swallow even though your throat does not want to close and you look at the person who loves you and smile.” -The Fault in our Stars -John Green
(via thecatsred)
And then I have to make an effort not to break down and cry because of all the pain they’ve been through.
